Billing Up!

Updated: May 21

Hello Ladies, I am so proud to announced and introduce to you yet another fabulous Senior who is and happens to also be a very dear and longtime friend of mine. Suzette Stevens and I have known each other for a period over forty years, and in describing her, I can only say that she is one of the most laid back, non-reactive and chilled individuals that I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. A trait which I absolutely love about her and one I much aspire to. This chick is the real deal in that she personifies class, grace, integrity and strength! Despite some challenges setbacks and disappointments, she has manage to persevere through it all achieving her long standing dream of owning her own business. She attributes it to her undeniable faith in God, and her ability walk in faith in her journey to accomplish all that she has. Although she and I have had very different journeys in life, we have managed to sustain a long standing friendship of mutual respect and trust. She is a very spiritually grounded person and throughout the years she has counseled me and we have poured into one another as we have continued on in our personal journeys. We make it a priority to start off each new year by meeting up over dinner or coffee and just pray for our families, friends and for just whatever challenges we may face in the new year!

Suzette's journey of entrepreneurship began many years ago, therefore this isn't her first rodeo in launching her own business. She received her Bachelors Degree and spent several years working in the corporate realm, working in the insurance industry in medical billing. After a layoff in 2011-2013, while employed with a major insurance company, she and her business partner decided to start a Medical Billing Company. The company did operate for a while, and eventually closed as her business partner no longer wanted to continue. Suzette was recruited for a position with an insurance conglomerate in another state. This was the much needed fresh start that she felt that she needed, and therefore took that leap and moved to another state leaving family behind. She in the meantime, acquired (2) Master's Degrees and continued working in the corporate realm, teaching night classes in Medical Billing and Coding. She continued to learn and develop her skills in the healthcare industry without fear of corporate backlash, and felt that God was definitely leading her in mapping out a business plan and putting that plan into fruition. After working in corporate for yet a number of years, Suzette launched her own Medical Services and Billing Company called One Source Medical Billing Services in 2022. The web address is www.onesourcebillingservices.com . Building her own company/business has become Suzette's primary focus, removing herself completely from the corporate world. Suzette says that actually what prompted her to wanting to start her own business is that she realized that her heart was just not in it. She explains that entrepreneurship is about creating something of your own, out of a passion and just watching it flourish and grow. You have total control of it's direction and directives, unlike how it is when you work for a company. Suzette does Pop Ups at local Health Fairs in an effort to network and advertise her company. She is also an active member of the Olive Branch Chamber of Commerce. Her company always offers prompt, friendly and reliable service. It personifies professionalism!

Self care is essential Suzette admits, and spends her down time taking long walks with her dog Ski, and also reading and spending quality time with her mother. She also enjoys going out with friends on occasion for Brunch and just spending time with family. We salute yet another one our Super Seniors, Suzette Stevens in making her mark in the business world as a trailblazer for women of the up and coming younger generation, as well as of our generation, in taking take the steps to making their dreams of becoming a business owner a reality!
